Author Profile

HOLLY QUILTER
Holly Quilter writes fiction and poetry at Wild Deer Girl.
She is a British writer from Devon whose work explores the thresholds of language: the places where expression falters and feeling begins. A graduate with first-class honours in English Literature and Creative Writing, she also trained in speech and language therapy, which deepened her fascination with linguistics and communication. She is drawn to writing that pushes the boundaries of form and emotion, often shaped by the shifting light and landscape around her.
“The literary and human affinity was felt from the very fist conversations, ” says Amantine Brodeur, Ballerini Book Press editor. “Holly has a deeply lyrical voice as well as a deeply astute and studied literary mind. She covers topics, books and authorship with scope and an intuitive understanding that draws in her loyal readers time and time again. It is a real joy to welcome her to Ballerini Book Press.“
Holly comments on this new stage in her literary career;
“I’ve been quietly working away in the woods, and I’m happy to share that my book “Ice Flower” will soon appear in print with Ballerini Book Press – an independent press that feels beautifully aligned with the work I love most.“Ice Flower” moves through a frost-lit world of sensory loss and renewal, discovering tenderness in the still small places at the edge of language.Wild Deer Girl has always been my space for wandering- for finding where words meet the quiet. This next step feels like a continuation of the same search, and I’m glad you’ve been here, reading along the way.”
